Superpowers

Character strengths for the digital age

Superpowers is a classroom program that integrates character education, social-emotional learning, and digital citizenship — giving children the life skills they need to thrive at school, at home, and online.

Through stories, animated videos, classroom rituals, and playful reflection, children practice twelve character strengths that guide them through friendships, challenges, and the digital world.

HOW IT WORKS

Why character matters more than ever

Children are growing up in three worlds simultaneously – school, home, and an online environment shaped by algorithms, AI, and constant connection. Too often, the skills we teach for each of these worlds are treated separately.

Superpowers brings them together. The same character strengths – kindness, resilience, critical thinking, emotional regulation, creativity, and more — guide how children understand themselves, treat others, and make good choices wherever they are. Building these foundations early is the most powerful thing a school can do.

The twelve Superpowers

At the heart of the program are twelve character strengths – the Superpowers. These are the life skills that every child needs to understand their emotions, build healthy friendships, and make wise choices, online and offline.

Use kind words and care for others

Defender

See Superpowers in action

The digital world offers children extraordinary possibilities — and very real risks. This short film captures both, and shows what it looks like when children have the character strengths to navigate it with confidence.

PROGRAM TYPES

Superpowers for every stage of childhood

AGES 5-8

Superpowers for early childhood

Young children are forming their first understanding of themselves and others. Superpowers for Early Childhood introduces the twelve character strengths through stories, animated characters, and classroom rituals that feel playful and natural.

Children begin to name their emotions, practice kindness and fairness, and build the social habits that will carry them through school and life. The program gives teachers a simple, consistent language to use every day, and gives children something concrete to come back to: their Superpowers.

AGES 9-11

Superpowers for the age of AI

As children move into upper primary, they enter a more complex world: deeper friendships with more friction, a growing online presence, and an internet increasingly shaped by algorithms and AI. Superpowers for the age of AI builds on the foundational character strengths to help children navigate this terrain with confidence.

Critical thinking, resilience, voice, and wisdom take on new meaning as children manage group chats, encounter misinformation, and figure out who they are online. This program equips them, and their teachers, to meet that moment.

EARLY IMPACT

What schools are seeing

An independent evaluation led by researchers from the University of Melbourne found that children participating in Superpowers showed meaningful gains in kindness, resilience, emotional regulation, and critical thinking. Teachers described stronger classroom culture and greater confidence addressing both emotional challenges and the realities of children’s digital lives. Parents reported richer conversations at home about friendships, feelings, and online experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Superpowers is designed to integrate naturally into the rhythm of your school year — not to sit alongside everything else as another demand on your teachers’ time.

Most schools are already delivering some form of social-emotional learning, digital citizenship, and wellbeing support. But these are often separate programs with separate frameworks, separate language, and separate demands on teachers who are already stretched. Superpowers brings them together into one coherent program — one set of character strengths that guides how children understand their emotions, treat others, and make choices at school, at home, and online.

For teachers, that means one framework to learn, one language to use, and one set of lessons to deliver. For children, it means the same strengths they practise in the classroom are the ones they draw on in the playground, at home, and in their online lives.
One program. One set of character strengths. For school, home, and online.

Most social-emotional learning programs were designed before smartphones, social media, and AI became part of childhood. They teach children how to manage emotions and build relationships — which matters enormously — but they were not built for the world children are actually growing up in today.

Superpowers goes further. It brings together three bodies of evidence and practice that are too often kept separate: the proven impact of social-emotional learning, the depth and moral grounding of character education, and the practical wisdom of digital citizenship. The result is a program that doesn’t just help children feel better — it helps them become better. Kinder, more resilient, more thoughtful, and wiser in how they navigate their online-offline lives.

Every child needs Superpowers. That conviction is at the heart of everything we do.

Superpowers is currently available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Filipino. We are actively working to bring the program to school systems across Asia, translating and localizing it so that it speaks to the lives, language, and culture of every child we reach.

If you are interested in bringing Superpowers to children in your country or language community, we would love to hear from you.

Superpowers is offered on a partnership basis, and fees vary based on your school’s size, the number of year groups participating, and the scope of the program.

Every Superpowers partnership includes teacher training as an essential component. This is not an optional add-on — it is where the program’s success begins. Schools that invest in training their teachers see the strongest results in their students. The research is clear on this: social-emotional and digital citizenship depends not just on what is taught, but on how it is taught, and on who is doing the teaching.

We are committed to making Superpowers accessible to schools that share our mission, and we are always happy to discuss what works best for your context.
